Default Photos of Falcon 9 v1.1 Firing During Return

Check out these photos from NasaSpaceFlight.com that shows the returning
Falcon 9 v1.1 booster during the last Falcon 9 demo flight in September.

Trying to figure out of that is sea water vaporizing around the stage in
that 2nd photo.

I would have expected to see *some* sort of delineation between sea
and sky if that were the case.
