Neat Zond photo

Came across this shot on http://www.myspacemuseum.com/zond.htm I'd never seen a photo showing the reflective thermal covering on the Block D TLI stage- or whatever this is; it doesn't look quite right for either the Proton/Zond or the Zond that rode on one of the four N-1 flights. Also, where are the Zond's solar panels? Pat |

No, the Zonds used solar panels- although different in design and smaller than standard Soyuz panels (they became the basis for the ones used on Soyuz 19 for the ASTP) The LOK Soyuz derivative for the Moon landing project was going to use fuel cells.
