She was working for Truax at the time and
was the putative passenger unless someone came forward with money to complete
the project who wished to also take their chances and fly.

So what happened to the project? If I recall the article correctly, a lot of
the hardware pieces were in hand.

Well, obviously, it never flew. The propulsion system was built and
successfully tested. I attended one of the firings back in 1980.

Overlooking the obvious multi million dollar price tag and the lack of
launch sites. The idea has merit.
