Default Lat/Long and timekeeping system for Mars

Now that the tsumani of mediocrity has subsided, back to the endeavor at hand.

The opportunity to create a timekeeping and calendar system for Mars is also an opportunity to tidy up the system for our home planet while still recognising the achievements accomplished by different societies over the many centuries. Of course contemporaries have to walk back from their beloved RA/Dec system to the 24 hour and Lat/Long systems where they can then enjoy their celestial sphere predictive system without creating havoc elsewhere.

The creation of the Equatorial Coordinate System in the late 17th century is based on bypassing the Sun and the Earth's day/night cycle . The 24 hour day itself and subsequently equable hours,minutes and seconds is anchored to the sunrise/noon/sunset cycle where variations in the total length of the time it takes the Sun to cross the observer's longitude meridian is different from one cycle to the next. The Equation of Time was employed to equalise the variations to a 24 hour average and from there into the Lat/Long system where 15 degrees of geographical separation equals 1 hour time difference.

RA/Dec is a system which correlates the Earth's rotation and timekeeping directly to a rotating celestial sphere -

It assigns a value of 23 hours 56 minutes 04 seconds to one rotation as a star cross the observer's meridian and a 24 hour value for the Sun crossing the observer's meridian otherwise known as 'solar vs sidereal time'.It is, of course, a contrived outcome as the Equatorial speed of the Earth is 1037..5 mph so RA/Dec fails dramatically on this point.


A much better outcome is to revisit the whole issue of timekeeping which allows RA/Dec to exist as an extension of the old geocentric framework as that system could predict eclipses and astronomical events as dates but could not predict the exact times of astronomical events as RA/Dec does . The geocentric framework had the Sun moving directly through the background stars -

Copernicus, Kepler and Galileo would have known this framework.

The later RA/Dec framework assigns a 'wandering' motion to the Sun which allows for a clockwork solar system as accurate clocks started to appear in the late 17th century -

The appearance of computer software based on RA/Dec exacerbates the clockwork issue and modeling planetary sciences on the notion for who in their right mind could find anything remotely sane about the following cause and effect -
