Near term for profit space businesses
I have recounted in other postings here my plans to build a heavy RLV
and nuclear thermal and nuclear electric stages for the RLV to provide a reliable, flexible, low-cost access throughout the inner solar system. This system would support the following programs; (1) Global wireless broadband from space; (2) Beamed power from space using solar pumped lasers (3) Space hotel, space tourisim (4) Lunar hotel, lunar tourism (5) Mars outpost (loss leader toward developing resources on Mars) (6) Lunar observatory (farside and nearside) - small body survey (7) Lunar particle accelerator (hard vacuum makes very large system possible) (8) Robotic exploration of the solar system (interplanetary internet) (9) Survey potential value of all solar system small bodies (10) Export all weapons grade fissionables to lunar surface (11) Experimental development of nuclear pulse rockets on lunar surface (12) Use of nuclear pulse to harvest rich asteroids into planetary orbits and use of telerobotics to develop them for export to Earth and across solar system. This could all be done over the next 30 years - with each one taking about 2 to 3 years developed in sequence - built around the RLV described elsewhere. |
