Does anyone else here think the foto of the final Titan II launch at

containing the foto at

is one of the best-ever fotos of any launch vehicle ever?

Granted, nothing yet will come close to those curvilinear wide-angle
close-ups of Saturn Vs clearing the tower, but still, this is memorable as
it's one of the more unusual camera angles and compositions I've seen in a
while. There's so much to like about this -- the low-angle view, the
flawless deep blue sky, the sun low and directly behind the Titan, so
bright it almost blots out the nozzle flames and makes the booster appear
to be suspended in the air just above the pad, as if by magic, like Jesus
hanging on a cross floating in air in a Dali Crucifixion?

God damn, what a great shot. Too bad there's none like this from Gemini.

I think there is a photo like that from Gemini:

Ham and Enos, the Mercury Chimps, caught the Gemini 13 flight.

Remember the movie Project X? ;-)

....But there's some minor errors that make it clear it's a C&P job.
Quickest fix would be to lighten the sides of the gantry facing the
exhaust a bit. Second would be to darken the smaller gantry a bit, as
the silhouette would be a bit more pronounced from the additional Sun
angle. Ditto for the Titan itself. Remember, the sun is apparently
*behind* the missile, so it would be somewhat darker than what you see
there. Not totally dark, but darker.

So who was piloting this flight? :-)

....Elliot See & Charlie Bassett. We'll give'em this one.

It's not THAT bad. Sure it could use some work but for someone who
isn't a professional it's good. Are YOU a professional who is
qualified to make that assessment or are you just slamming it because
you CAN?
