Down range thunderstorm

You can see the downrage thunderstorm they talked about on noaa's radar:

Shuttle simulations, like the ones used to generate Day of Launch guidance
commands and check vehicle loads do not include the vertical component of
the wind. Those values are all zero.

If you've ever been on an airliner near a thunderstorm, it can get quite
rough when the vertical component of the wind is not zero.
