Default ISS Space Walk

Thursdays ISS expedition-14 spacewalk (Mike Lopez-Alegria and Suni
Williams) will give mission commander Michael Lopez-Alegria the second
most spacewalk time for an American astronaut, and will be the third
of four space walks in about a three week time frame.

"Revved Up for Another Spacewalk
Commander Mike Lopez-Alegria and Flight Engineer Suni Williams
continue to prepare for Thursday's excursion outside the International
Space Station. Using instructional aids, Lopez-Alegria and Williams
configured the required tools and gear, reviewed the updated spacewalk
procedures and held a space-to-ground conference with Houston
specialists to discuss details worked out in Mission Control.

On Tuesday, Williams began spacesuit battery charging in the U.S.
airlock, while Lopez-Alegria charged the digital camera system
battery. Pre-spacewalk medical checkups are also performed. The
spacewalk will begin around 9 a.m. EST and last an estimated 6 hours,
30 minutes.

By the end of the spacewalk Lopez-Alegria will be in second place for
the most spacewalk time by an American astronaut."

"Station Crew to Conduct Three Back-to-Back Spacewalks 02.04.07
The third spacewalk in nine days by International Space Station
Commander Michael Lopez-Alegria and Flight Engineer Sunita Williams is
scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 8.

The three spacewalks, from the Quest airlock in U.S. spacesuits, and a
Russian spacewalk scheduled for Feb. 22 will be the most ever done by
station crew members during an increment, said Mike Suffredini,
station program manager.

The three spacewalks are termed EVAs 6, 7, and 8 because there were
five previous station spacewalks from the U.S. airlock Quest during
increments, times when no shuttle was present."

Default ISS Space Walk

NASA wants to engage young people, get the disinterested youth interested. I
would think NASA HD is a good step in that direction.

The space station segment is good, high quality, nice theme.

High Definition "Live" spacewalks would fit right in with trying to attract
the younger crowd. Out of the world reality TV. After ascent and entry,
spacewalks would have to be third on my list of interesting "NASA" things
that might get the young people interested. But, I doubt if the current low
res video will do it.
