Interestingly enough, 'Rabbi' and 'Doctor' are both derived from ancient
words meaning 'teacher'. Rabbi comes from from the Hebrew root word ???,
and doctor comes from the Latin root word (you guessed it) doctor :-)

....And the Russian and German words for "idiot" are derived from the
words they have for each other. The irony? "Nimoy" is Russian for
"Stupid" or "Idiot". I've always wanted to ask Leonard what he thought
about that :-)

Not the best of examples :-), since last I heard, there is thought to be
little or no medical justification for infant circumcision. In Britain,
one interesting side effect of the advent of National Health was that
when doctors ceased having a financial interest in circumcision, quite
suddenly it went from being nearly universal to being done only when the
parents insisted for religious reasons.

I always thought that the way our kids come into the world prepares them
for the life ahead; first they get swatted on the ass so they will start
yelling, then it's time for the sexual mutilation to begin.
Welcome to the U.S. :-)
I don't know who the doctor was who did mine, but he must have been
ancient, as he equipped me with a Edwardian era loop of skin so I can
tie my penis down to my leg to prevent it from showing.
I've never done that, but I'll bet it made running well-nigh impossible.
:-D

I was trying to figure out what that was all about until I ran into a
drawing of how the tying down trick worked.
I assume that's how the doc learned to do it, so he didn't know any way
of doing it other than that.

Q: Did you hear the one about the Rabbi who wouldn't take money for

A: He only took tips.

I like the one about the rabbi who saved them up, and had them knitted
into a wallet. That way, he could just rub it, and have a suitcase.
