A Google search on your phone can find much better images, all the time, not just at night.

But it won *design awards*! Unlike those horrid ugly telescopes that offer more
aperture for the dollar. And it _is_ a refractor, and conventional refractors
are expensive anyways.

ED doublet with lanthanum glass - not quite an apo, but in the semi-apo class.

So they did _try_ to make the price not totally ridiculous.

A famous telescope vendor has a roughly similar telescope, optically and mechanically, for about $1500. For another $500 you can get a better camera.

The whole thing won't win the same design awards, but it should work fine. You would also be able to easily detach the OTA and use it on a more portable mount, or use the existing mount to hold some other telescope, which you can buy with leftover $1500.
