Default NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON DISHONEST OR JUST SILLY?

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/...ry?id=32191481
Neil deGrasse Tyson: "We have ways of moving into the future. That is to have time tick more slowly for you than others, who you return to later on. We've known that since 1905, Einstein's special theory of relativity, which gives the precise prescription for how time would slow down for you if you are set into motion."

Einstein's special relativity predicts the opposite: For the entire outward and return parts of the trip, time ticks FASTER for the traveller (he sees his clock running FASTER than the stationary clock):

http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~djmorin/chap11.pdf
Introduction to Classical Mechanics With Problems and Solutions, David Morin, Cambridge University Press, Chapter 11, p. 14: "Twin A stays on the earth, while twin B flies quickly to a distant star and back. (...) For the entire outward and return parts of the trip, B does observe A's clock running slow, but enough strangeness occurs during the turning-around period to make A end up older."

Albert Einstein: "During the partial processes 2 and 4 [the outward and return parts of the trip] the clock U1, going at a velocity v, runs indeed at a slower pace than the resting clock U2."

Note: In Einstein's paper U2 is actually the travelling clock and U1 is the resting one, but since in the above quotation things are judged from the traveller's reference frame, U1 is said to be "going at a velocity v" while U2 is called "resting".

Default NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON DISHONEST OR JUST SILLY?

Judging from the cosmic-conspiracy-of-the-highest-order hoax, Neil deGrasse Tyson is dishonest rather than silly:

http://astro.cornell.edu/academics/c...speedlimit.htm
Neil deGrasse Tyson: "If everyone, everywhere and at all times, is to measure the same speed for the beam from your imaginary spacecraft, a number of things have to happen. First of all, as the speed of your spacecraft increases, the length of everything - you, your measuring devices, your spacecraft - shortens in the direction of motion, as seen by everyone else. Furthermore, your own time slows down exactly enough so that when you haul out your newly shortened yardstick, you are guaranteed to be duped into measuring the same old constant value for the speed of light. What we have here is a cosmic conspiracy of the highest order."

The cosmic-conspiracy hoax is taught by other high priests in Einsteiniana as well, although they all know that the conspiracy is Einsteinian, not cosmic:

http://www.redorbit.com/news/space/1...-limit-042715/
Robert Scherrer: "In fact, the laws for adding and subtracting speeds have to conspire to keep the speed of the light the same no matter how fast or in what direction an observer is moving. The only way to make this happen is for space and time to expand or contact as objects move."

https://plus.maths.org/content/einstein-relativity
David Tong: "Special relativity is where the famous equation E=mc^2 comes from. The central idea of the theory is that there is a speed limit in our Universe. The laws of physics conspire so that nothing can ever travel faster than the speed of light."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dc3-29dguFs
Brian Greene: "Einstein proposed a truly stunning idea - that space and time could work together, constantly adjusting by exactly the right amount so that no matter how fast you might be moving, when you measure the speed of light it always comes out to be 671000000 miles per hour."

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/physics...-nutshell.html
Brian Greene: "If space and time did not behave this way, the speed of light would not be constant and would depend on the observer's state of motion.. But it is constant; space and time do behave this way. Space and time adjust themselves in an exactly compensating manner so that observations of light's speed yield the same result, regardless of the observer's velocity."

Neil deGrasse Tyson is asked when and if Einstein's theory of relativity will be fully discredited. Neil deGrasse Tyson: "Ha! It will never be discredited because it works!"

Yes it works, in the following way:

http://www.masslive.com/news/index.s...paid_2500.html
"Neil De Grasse Tyson's speech to the University of Massachusetts class of 2015 drew cheers, laughs and a standing ovation. But this was the first time, UMass paid a commencement speaker to provide words of wisdom. Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson received $25,000 fee - with another $1,235 to cover the projected tax he will owe for that fee and $1,500 more to cover travel and hotel costs. (...) "They said I would have eight minutes," Tyson told graduates. "The universe needs a little more than eight minutes. I need at least nine minutes, maybe 10 to share things you should know going forward in life. Maybe you already know it. I don't think everyone knows all of this." He spoke for more than 15."

"In this video lecture, Neil deGrasse Tyson, America's most noted astrophysicist, describes the Twins Paradox, a hypothetical scenario in which high-speed travel slows down the aging of one twin, while the other twin ages at a normal rate."

Tyson is lying of course (or is silly). This is not a conclusion that validly follows from the postulates of Einstein's special relativity. The valid conclusion is:

High-speed travel SPEEDS UP the aging of one twin, as he compares the rate of his clock (or his aging) with the rate of the clock (or aging) of his stationary brother.

Here is the valid conclusion:

http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~djmorin/chap11.pdf
David Morin, Introduction to Classical Mechanics With Problems and Solutions, Cambridge University Press, Chapter 11, p. 14: "Example (Twin paradox): Twin A stays on the earth, while twin B flies quickly to a distant star and back. (...) For the entire outward and return parts of the trip, B does observe A's clock running slow..."
