Default Solar (space-based power generation) outed as complete fraud

Scam outed in Sept 2009 issue of Photonics-Spectra magazine.
Referencing an article on this in the July 09 issue.
Using huge collectors for solar power and transmitting it in the form
of microwaves at 2.45GHz would result in a loss of 190db by the time
it reached the Earth's surface. In addition, solar cells age pretty
rapidly in space due to cosmic bombardment so the 15% efficiency they
sport would wane quickly. Writer tried contacting the companies
involved about this, they had no reply.

You do know that nobody is seriously pushing this technology beyond a
possible demonstration project or two, and even that well into the
future sometime? Whatever resources get consumed by research along these
lines, it's going to be very, very small compared to what gets spent on
more immediately promising approaches to capturing solar energy.
