[fitsbits] Question(s) regarding development of proprietaryFITS manipulation software. . .
On Thu 2007/09/20 14:05:17 +1000, Mark Calabretta wrote in a message to: Maren Purves and copied to: gberz3 , after all they should contain all of the colour information. Just multiply the spectra by the CIE 1931 colour-matching functions to get colourimetric RGB or XYZ-tristimulus values. These would then ....that is, multiply the spectrum in turn by each of the CIE 1931 R, G, B (or X, Y, Z) colour-matching functions and integrate to get an (R,G,B) or (X,Y,Z) triple for each spectrum. This is the spectrum's colour in a colourimetric colour-space. Do this for each pixel to get a colourimetrically accurate colour image. Convert each triple to sRGB via a simple linear transformation (matrix multiply) for display on an LCD. Cheers, Mark |
