Default ToUcam 840 - Cant Start Graph

Same problem over & over endlessly ever since I bought
this Phillips ToUcam 840. Have searched the web endlessly
for the solution only to find hundreds of posts having the same
problem - but no solution anywhere! So the expensive webcam
sits.

What is going on with this "Cant Start Graph" failure to record
warning? How do I fix it. Like others have tried everything.

Do not tell me I need to buy more software - will throw the
damned cam away first!

TIA,
Ken

The solution is easy. Assume you have XP. Do the camera Check.
Probably OK so close and open VRecord. Go to File and
Set File. Name a file in the box where you want vids saved to.
Now, you must also set the size of the file so go down immediately
below Set File and click Save or File Allocation - this sets the size
of the file. Set how many ever megs you want the file to be, and
close the box. Thats it. Go back to VP and open and you can now
Start a Capture!

The problem is French software. Phillips explains nothing and
wont even respond to an email even though thousands of these cams have
been heavily marketed by US sales scum. Almost
everyone gets Cant Start Graph sometime, but the above is the
solution for the lousy French software. The irony is once you
know this Trick the software is pretty stable and will perform.
Many poeople use Ktools. I dont! Im cheap. I expect what I pay
hundreds of dollars for to work! Without sending more!!

Scumbag sales people in the USA are a plague. Good luck.

If you are on XP the trick is to not install anything, no driver, no
software. XP has drivers for Philips ToUcam webcams pre-installed. Just plug
in the camera and wait for confirmation that the camera is ready.

Capture software? There is a lot to choose from. I would suggest K3CCDTools
for astronomy use http://www.pk3.org/Astro/index.htm?k3ccdtools.htm
