Default looking for cameras using the texas instruments TC211 image sensor

looking for cameras using the texas instruments TC211 image sensor. i
would also like a list of camera models using the TC-211 if someone
can supply me with a list and where i can purchase them at. it does
not matter if the cameras interface is analog composite video, usb,
serial, parallel, isa, pci etc.. etc..

I don't think anybody has made cameras with this sensor for a number of
years. The chip is long since discontinued and very hard to find, even
from obsolete component specialists. It was used in the ST4, and I think
in one of the Cookbook cameras. But it was very limited for imaging.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are no commercially available new
cameras with TC211 sensors, although cameras like the ST4 show up
occasionally on the used equipment market.

Hello Chris,

what type of computer interface does the ST4 use? i seen some
telescopes for instance use more than 1 image sensor. does the ST4
only use this image sensor? would you happen to know a website where
i can purchase the ST4 and the interface? i would like to obtain
digital pictures of the ST4 setup.

The ST4 uses a serial (RS-232) interface. It is a dedicated autoguider
that uses only the TC211. SBIG still maintains a page on the device,
even though it is obsolete: http://www.sbig.com/sbwhtmls/st4.htm .

Many other SBIG cameras used the TC211 sensor alongside another sensor,
with the TC211 being used for guiding. Again, with the obsolescence of
the TC211, it has been several years since the TC211 was used in new
cameras. For some time SBIG has been using the TC237 for their guide
sensor.
