Most people use an OIII (or another filter) when viewing this object visually because it renders the wispiness much easier to see, but without any filter, you will see that the bright star in the field, 52 cyg (aka ADS 14259), is a beautiful double star. This pair has a separation of 6.4" and the primary is mag 4.2 and the secondary is mag 9,5. At a distance of about 210 light-years, this double-star sits well in front of this part of Veil Nebula (aka The Witch’s Broom), which is about 1470 light-years away.
