Greetings, all. I was invited to join this group by Derek Lyons who
rather convincingly explained to me that the X-15b as proposed was a
non-starter. As a space historian, I wanted to say hello and join in
on the fun. My current area of research is the first year of the
American space program, particularly the Thor Able and Pioneers 0-2.

Anyone out there with similar interests?

I should warn you in advance that this group is a bit more
rough-and-tumble and contains more ahm... personalities than the norm
- but it's a good group. Persevere and you'll be rewarded.

I think the general bent of the group lies in the later manned
programs (and Sperry ball turret evacution procedures[1]), but there
are a few about who know a thing or two. We're always willing to
listen and learn.

Welcome!

D.

The general bent of any group of space enthusiasts lies with the later
manned programs. That's why I'm the first to do what I'm doing. ^_^

Ok, the real question is, "Are you a turtle?"

Question on the week.. is the "X-15B" supposed to be the one with the
delta wings and the extended nozzle on the LR-99?

Remember that Derek is a former submariner in the U.S. Navy.
He's going to listen to exactly where you're coming from.
Yet not reveal his position, no matter what. :-D

Not unless he's a naval aviator, he's not.
If he is... then...you can bet there's a real chance you can bet your
sweet ass that he is. :-D

Yes, and 1-3 Navahos designed to throw it into a sub-orbital skip jaunt
around the world. Derek says it's un-possible.
