Purple Haired Ladies!: http://www.framecaplib.com/annual/ufolib/no36.htm
Well, they make my mouth water at least.

....Here's the thing about those wigs that still has UFO fans going
"...What?" almost four decades after the show was filmed. Sylvia
Anderson designed about 2/3 of the costumes for that show, and the
purple wigs were actually part of the Moonbase standard uniforms for
women.

....No, I'm not joking here. Apparently her justification is that
judges and politicians have worn wigs as part of their uniform of
office and/or a badge of honor. Her argument was that in the future
wigs could just as easily be as acceptable as a required part of a
uniform as a cap. On the very few occasions where one of the Moonbase
ladies showed up on Earth - the 2nd episode comes to mind - if they
were not in uniform they sported their natural hair color and style.

On the other hand, if you thought purple wigs were a lousy prediction
on Sylvia's part, how she think anyone would wear a Nehru jacket that
was all one lousy, loud color instead of having lots of psychedelic
embroidery defies explanation...

As Pat pointed out, April 1 was two months ago. However, I don't really see
the connection you're making between water on Mars and a moonbase (although
I'd like the latter).

April fools water is what exist on Mars, and the DARPA joke is on all
of humanity (similar to their NASA/Apollo moon landing hoax).

Well, I'll have you know this Mr. Erskine...there are over ten thousand
gay firemen in Australia.
And when I send them emails about you...you know what keeps coming up?
No, not that.
