It sure shows how heavy elements such as iron are seeded throughout the
cosmos. Because the heavy elements are so near the centre of the
explosion, they likely felt the biggest brunt of the explosion that sent
them hurtling. They outraced all of the lighter elements near the outer
edge of the former star. If hydrogen and helium were the first to reach
the star nurseries that form later generations of stars, then those
stars would be pretty metal-poor.
