Default Venus and Jupiter Nov 5th

A couple of pics from this morning of the conjunction. Weather was
worse this morning than it was yesterday. Thank goodness my
camera/telescope arrangement can see through clouds ;-)

That's if Selsey had clouds of course

Nice pics Pete

Letchworth was, of course, cloudy.
Blame either me having put the 14" mirror back in the scope or the Iceland
Eruption - anyone know if the dust is coming over our way?

The plume appears to be heading east.

Yes it is, Kev.

That shows the wind is coming from Iceland so obviously the dust will
be too, but I couldn't see the dust plume itself in that animation. I
don't think you meant that it shows the plume, but I'd be very
interested to see some images of just the dust plume if anyone knows
of one.

It seems surprisingly difficult to see things like the dust plume in
weather pics partly because of the resolution of pictures being
somewhat over 1 km per pixel and also that the wavelength of
the sensors' response is optimised for atmospheric events.

There's bound to be some somewhere. Did you see the bit of
'film' on the news (probably News24) where a lightning bolt
cracked over between the upper and lower areas at the side
of the ejection? Spectacular!

Tim, I found this on Bernard Burton's website which shows the LEO
satellite images. This one in particular may show some evidence of
a plume:

The 'front door' to this section is at:
http://www.btinternet.com/~wokingham.weather/wwp.html and then
click '2'.
