I'd suggest using Google to look for "local" news stories (e.g. an L.A.
newspaper), which ought to cover the details better than a "national"
news outlet.

The LA Times is an LA newspaper that also counts as a "national" news
outlet, and shows up in Google News. That's where I got the
Manchester-Crenshaw-MLK routing, but I was only finding articles about
the tree cutting; finding the map requires more searching.

They speak of trees, but what about lamppost and street lights that
overhang at intersections ? Seems like a lot of work.

Some powerlines have to be lifted, it looks like. Maybe at Portal Ave.
I haven't seen any details on power poles or traffic lights, but some
of those may be designed for easy replacement after traffic accidents,
which would ease the job this time.

Also, anyone if they willa ctually cut down the trees and replant new
ones, or will they just dig the existing trees out and put them back ?

I gather that some trees are already being cut.

Cutting a tree doesn't remove its rooms and it become sproblematic
acterwards to plan a mature tree there.

Digging an existing tree out is problematic; they often don't survive
when they are replanted. I expect it's easier to cut, and then when
you replant you use the same backhoe or auger to dig the old roots out
as you are using to dig the hole for the new roots.


Manchester Ave goes over the 405 so that solves a major problem.

The 405 goes under Manchester ... it dips into a trench there.
(Actually, between Century and Arbor Vitae), There's a couple of
Panoramio Pictures taken at the freeway level in those locations.
