Default Estimate of how long 17P will remain visible

Comet 17P is in its 16th day of outburst (11/9/07). Between the 20th
and 31st day of the 1892 outburst, the comet declined in brightness
from naked-eye to an averted object in a 150mm refractor. Continued
amatuer photographic monitoring may capture additional unusual
behavior of this comet during a possible "shut-down" over the next 14
days, e.g. rapid dimming, jet turn-off in the central condensation,
tail disconnection.

Background note and table of elapsed day of events during the 1892
outburst are posted at -

That comet should be the focus of research via a spacecraft. Either land on
it or orbit it.
Maybe ESA will do that. Holmes is veeelly intellesting.

This is 2007? Not 1892. And no previous outburst was anything
like what we are seeing?
