Default Manned Mars Mission

because we dont know what we dont know.......

perhaps deep space missions cause some long term harm to humans for any reasons.

the time to find this out isnt month 2 of a 3 year round trip mission.....

the crew could arrive at mars unable to do the work necessary

Bob, that's always the case with anything we try. I don't know what I don't
know when I bike to the local supermarket!

However, unlike 1961, we have a LOT more knowledge of the impact of zero-G
on humans and on the space radiation environment.

We can make fairly accurate predictions at this point.
