Mounting a C9.5 OTA on an Ultima C8 Mount
Has anyone mounted a Celestron 9.5 OTA on to an Ultima C8 moumt?
If so, what modifications did you have to make to the separate components? Thanks in advance, TMT |

Nice scope. You should be aware that the fork arms will have to be spread significantly to accomodate the additional diameter of the 9.25 OTA, and that the added length of the 9.25 will not allow the scope to clear the forks. If you cannot put the OTA in the "down" position, it's gonna be a bear to store and transport. I'd basically advise against doing this. If you have the Ultima 8 forks, put a C8 in there. You won't be sorry if you are doing imaging. |

Thanks for info.
I was thinking that perhaps that the 8" and 9.25" scopes might share a common base with the fork arms being different (wider and longer). It sounds like they are not. I wonder if one could build riser blocks that would fit at the bottom of the fork arms to increase the distance between them and raise their height. Does anyone know the weights of the OTAs of the 8" and 9.25"? Thanks TMT |

The C9.25, is "heavier for it's size", than you might expect, because of the longer OTA needed with it's slower primary. Best Wishes |
