ROBOTIC hubble repair?
This is so weak. It should embarass every space fan in America. After all's
said and done, it'll cost 2 billion dollars to send an automated monkey wrench to Hubble which maybe won't fix it. It would have been a good opportunity to instead plan for a man-able space tug in orbit and stop playing around in space. But nooo, nasa stays in its old groove, to the detriment of all space dreams. NASA administrator Sean O'Keefe said he has ordered experts to plan a robotic mission to repair the ageing Hubble Space Telescope, after it was deemed too risky in January to continue servicing the orbiting instrument with manned space shuttle missions. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration chief said the planning would take nine months to a year and would cost roughly 1.0 to 1.6 billion dollars. An amendment to the 2005 budget is being prepared and will soon be sent to Congress, he added. ^ //^\\ ~~~ near space elevator ~~~~ ~~~members.aol.com/beanstalkr/~~~ |
