Default UnManned Exploration

I see a number of claims that unmanned vehicles make manned space flight
unecessary.
Instruments measure what they are designed to measure- unless you ar lucky
beyond all belief. Review the story of van Allen's discovery of the earth's
radiation belt, and the luck involved.
Moral: It takes observation, intellegence and imagination to make new
discoveries, and this is also true in exploration- on earth or in space.
