GP-C5 mount
I am wondering if there is any concise instructions online for using the
setting circles on the GP or C5 mount? After polar aligning, what is done next to set up the setting circles? |

After polar aligning, what is done next to set up the setting circles? Hi Mick, Just choose a bright star with known coordinates to point the scope at, and turn the Right Ascension setting circle to match the RA coordinate of the star. Use a star close to the Celestial Equator (at a right angle to the pole) for the most accurate alignment. The declination setting circle should already be aligned. If it’s not, use the same star as in the previous step and set its declination as accurately as possible on the declination scale. Of course you should then lock the setting circles to follow the movement of the RA and dec axes. Here is a list of some bright stars useful for aligning the setting circles: http://www.smaal.info/astro_en/index...ro#ap_starlist |
