ISS Crew Works With Science Experiments

The Expedition 10 crew focussed on science experiments and medical
activities Tuesday aboard the International Space Station.

Commander Leroy Chiao conducted another session with the Binary Colloid
Alloy Test 3, which is studying the long-term behavior of colloids -- fine
particles suspended in a fluid -- in a microgravity environment, where the
effects of sedimentation and convection are removed. Crewmembers will even
out the samples, photograph the growth and formations of the colloids, and
downlink the images for analysis. Meanwhile, Flight Engineer Salizhan
Sharipov participated in a Russian experiment that is studying the heart at
rest.

Both crewmembers took part in routine medical assessments and recorded the
data.

In other activities, the crew monitored ISS systems and continued
troubleshooting on a Russian navigation system.
