This rain isn't going to clear anytime tonight is it? If something special
happens, no-one in England is going to see it....

I wouldn't worry about the rain. My "aurora detector" isn't seeing
anything at all at the moment, so there's probably nothing to look at
anyway.

I live in an area where the TV reception is a bit flaky. Whenever there
are charged particles raining down the BBC2 reception starts to look
almost as bad as Channel Five. The occurrence of such reception
degradation has correlated remarkably well with people posting articles
on this newsgroup a little later saying that they've seen an aurora. So
far, during this alert, BBC2 has remained crystal clear.

Mike,

Could you check your telly again? SAMNET has just gone red, with a
'possible start of storm' warning.

If it's arriving in the day, does that mean the auroras won't be visible
tonight?

Slight brightening of the clear northern sky visible from Plymouth, with
strong radio aurora on 48.250 MHz intermittently in progress since 19:50
GMT. It might just be the nuclear glow from Devonport, but is anyone
with clear skies further north seeing anything?

Andy.

Everywhere north of watford gap was evidently under water a couple of
hours ago. I belive the magnetic storm would have to be VERY powerful
to be visible under this lot... :-(
