15,000 Galaxies Shine in This 1 View from the Hubble Space Telescope
In article ,
Internetado writes: The Hubble Space Telescope has been at work for almost three decades, but it's still learning new skills — like how to squeeze an incredible 15,000 galaxies into a single image. Images, descriptions, and useful links are at http://hubblesite.org/news_release/news/2018-35 The most distant galaxies aren't visible in the UV images. The new UV images are still quite important, of course, which is why the project was granted 132 orbits of HST time. The scientific paper describing the images is at http://imgsrc.hubblesite.org/hvi/upl...ApJS_paper.pdf I think much of the paper should be understandable by anyone interested in details of the images. Actual FITS images and further details are at https://archive.stsci.edu/prepds/hduv/ -- Help keep our newsgroup healthy; please don't feed the trolls.
