Live rerun of The Stand only hope for Earth (was "Concerned citizens" only hope for SPS)
"Fred J. McCall" wrote in message ... avid M. Palmer wrote: : There are two ways to hold down CO2 emissions: : 1) Prevent the increase in GDP : 2) Decrease carbon intensity : 3) Complain about the US Your path seems to condemn the world to stagnation. The poorer countries can't grow and the richer countries must contract economically. There are lots of options. Perhaps the next rerun of Stephen King's The Stand won't be televised but rather brought to you live. |

Baa, Baa, black sheep (was "Concerned citizens" only hope for SPS)
"Joe Strout" wrote in message ... "Carbon intensity" is a made-up bookkeeping trick used as the measure of emissions in the so-called Clear Skies Act. In other words, it's a small bit of double-speak crafted to support a much larger piece of double-speak, which is designed to pull the wool over the eyes of the public but wouldn't fool anyone with half a wit of sense who actually bothers to look into it. Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any wool? Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full. One for the master, but maybe he lies. And two for the wool he pulls over your eyes. --- Dick Feagler |

Call it national defense, the only hope for SPS (was "Concerned citizens" only hope for SPS)
"Joe Strout" wrote in message ... Politically, of course, getting lawmakers to pass a $3/gallon excise tax is about as likely as getting them to move the whole DoD budget into NASA. But I can't fault them for trying! Wong direction. The only way to get things done in America is to call it a national defense project. Move NASA's budget and more into the DoD one and all the money issues automagically go away. |

Internationalism: the only hope for the blue marble (was "Concerned citizens" only hope for SPS)
I have been against surrendering sovereignty until this administration came
along and desecrated what little was left of the Constitution. "Harri Tavaila" wrote in message 7... My impression has been that US attitude towards Kyoto agreement has been dictated by long term general unwillingnes by various administrations to subject the country to any regulation by an international entity - any entity on any subject. This is certainly the impression one is likely to get. Then again, as I'm not all that interested in usaian politics I admit that this is merely a not-too-well-informed opinion. Whatever the reason for the article 17, the point is that this question has been addressed. H Tavaila |

"Fred J. McCall" quarreled in various messages Hop David quarreled in various messages It seems that an obvious solution -- such as build in LEO and use ion propulsion to get to GEO (geosynchronous Earth orbit) somehow got lost. |
