best way to take an image of the supernova with Rebel??

I just picked up a Canon Rebel T3 today. Although I'm primarily going to
use the camera for family outings and such, I may do a bit of
astrophotography. I'd be brand new at this, although I used to image
planets in the past with a C-8 and webcam (all sold now).

So.... all I have right now is the camera and the lens that comes with it
(55mm I think). I do have an ETX-90RA scope, but it hasn't been used in
several years. I was hoping to maybe grab a few shots or even a single shot
of the supernova in M95. It this possible with just the camera, could I use
the ETX and camera, or ?? Since I don't have much of a clock drive, I
realize I'd have to make exposures short and probably stack them.

I want to try and catch this SN before it's gone. Thanks in advance for any
help/ suggestions.

It's unlikely you have a conventional lens long enough to let you see
M95 as anything but a tiny smudge. So you'll need the telescope.
Imaging will be a challenge with this ETX, but you might pull it off.
You will need an adapter to attach the camera- something like a
T-to-1.25 tube. The scope will have to be well polar aligned, because
you don't want images shorter than about 30 seconds. Even a single
30-second exposure will show the galaxy and supernova; the more you
can stack, the better the final appearance.
