Why do planets rotate?

--
When, once, reference was made to a statesman almost universally
recognized as one of the villains of this century, in order to
induce him to a negative judgment, he replied: "My situation is
so different from his, that it is not for me to pass judgment".

It turns out dust particles interacting via gravity are not a good
approximation to liquid helium so are not a system involving irrotational flow.

There are several writeups around e.g. Sci Am and Discovery both did pieces in
the past few years.

There's more than one way to get information from the internet, Googling
is surely one of them and newsgroups are another. Why he who enquires
in a newsgroup is thought to be wrong, I know not.

Thank you.

I can assure you that there vast hoards of folks on these newsgroups who simply make it up as they go along, without ever offering even a modicum of evidence in support of their views. This happens all the time!

In general, you would be far ahead of the game by using a search engine rather than asking here for answers to your questions.
