Would - Coulda - Shoulda. It's easy to sight what might happen. Without the proof the proposed SSC could have been a bust as well.


why? They knew from the design how much power it would have, just like the LHC before they built it.

Not true. CERN had to be extensively reworked after original completion.

These sort of one off projects inevitably are as much art as sceince.

By far the greatest tragedy comes from those who refuse to accept that the planet turns once each day with the Sun coming into and departing from view (sunrise to sunset) with each rotation -

All the dross of astrophysics from Newton to relativity/quantum voodoo is summed up in the misery of defying the most basic experience of our planet's motion. This and this alone is a tragedy by those miserable Brits who have known only pretense along with their colonist followers.
