Thanks for the lovely comments everyone - they are all very much appreciated. -- Pete http://www.digitalsky.org.uk As a (mostly) naked eye sky watcher I don't have the planetary angular diameters to mind, but it was most enlightening to see such a direct comparison with the lunar diameter I'd have guessed that the difference was much greater.
