Hollywood and telescopes
Celestron Shmidt-Cassegrain telescopes were featured in the recent movies
"KPAX" and "Down with Love".

It's a match not made in heaven, but Hollywood seems to
have a favorable opinion of telescopes of late. Remember
"Body Double?" That movie made more people aware of
the Questar than any movie ever did for any telescope.
But it was kind of a negative image. The psychotic voyeur
types seemed to have telescopes or binoculars.
Now, people seem to be presented in a positive light when a telescope
is included.
"Contact" is one movie where small telescopes play a positive
role. Also, "Deep Impact." Many offices of executives have
telescopes in movies, and child actors portrayed positively or as
intelligent also have scopes in their houses or bedrooms. Now, if
Hollywood could just learn to incorporate them more fully into some
stories, it would be good.
