ISS pushed toward new orbit
Mar 25 2005 2:40PM
ISS pushed toward new orbit MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - The altitude of the International Space Station has been increased by three kilometers, the optimal orbit for a link-up with a Soyuz spaceship, a Russian Mission Control spokesman told Interfax on Friday. "[Russia's] Progress spaceship started its engines to boost the height [of the ISS]. No incidents were reported during the operation," the spokesman said. The ISS's orbit was adjusted for a link-up with a Soyuz piloted spaceship, which is expected to take off from the Baikonur launch pad on April 15 carrying the eleventh ISS mission aboard. The maneuver will also help a Soyuz TMA-5 spaceship undock from the ISS. The members of the tenth ISS mission - Salizhan Sharipov and Leroy Chiao - will return to the Earth on board the Soyuz TMA-5. |
