Default S@H to BOINC Transition

Looking at future directions
http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/setifuture.html , S@H data ends in
October and a new BOINC client for S@H should become available. Anyone
know if things are on schedule? BOINC, AFAIK, is still beta and there is
no S@H BOINC client available, just the Astropulse beta. Both BOINC and
Astropulse are not accepting new accounts.

Klaatu,

you might have missed something:
== Project Timeline - last updated December 2, 2002
and
== NOTE: This timeline is only an estimate and is subject to change.

although BOINC is making progress, it doesn't mean that it won't take some time
to be released.

Its getting toward the end of the original S@H. That the timeline hasn't
been updated could be interpreted as S@H is on schedule, no update
necessary. Hard to tell though, aside from the timeline there is not much
other info at S@H or BOINC. Additional new schedule info welcome.

Hey Robi

From memory, that timeline graphic still showed S@H1 shutting down in late
February '03 back in December 2002 - methinks it's been updated fairly
recently but that 'last updated' line wasn't changed, along with most of the
text below the graphic...

Ciao...

It looks like the project is on schedule. The few remaining issues can
always hit a snag and drag out though. User accounts, profiles, and teams
will carry over to the BOINC client. Credit will start over from zero
since it is tabulated differently but your original S@H WU final count will
still be available. Now if that signal would just pop out of the noise!

They're well behind schedule, but continuing development. United Devices
apparently was the litigant that contributed to the delay, but they're
short on staff and funding as well, I think.
