Default Tip-of-the-tongue question: that gold-colored insulating wrap...

What the _hell_ is it called? It's right on the tip of my tongue. This
came up in a discussion with someone about different insulating materials
in spacecraft, and totally blanked on it.

I've ****ed away over an hour this evening searching NASA and Mark Wade's
and "Contact Light" and every other link I can think of before giving up
and leaving myself open to embarassment by asking a question about
something I should've remembered from when I first saw the stuff wrapped
around a LM and asked what it was.

....and it's right on the _tip_ of my tongue. Some funky plastics trade
name... it's not Kevlar, it's not Teflon, it's not Spandex, it's not
Mylar, it's...it's... damn.

Thanks in advance.

The plastic often used is Kapton. The *insulation* made with it is MLI,
Multi Layer Insulation, which is many layers of metallized plastic with
corrugations, bumps, or netting to keep them apart.
