Anyone have first hand performance info on the "seemingly" very
economical, $29.99, (subject) barlow? Pros & cons?

TIA,

I've "heard good things" about the Orion Shorty Barlow. But there is a
confusion factor: I think there are two versions, the other being more
espensive than the price above.

Are they still selling the one above?

Hi Phil:

Yeah, they still sell the 40 buck job...which has served me well both
for planetary imaging and for visual use for several years now.
Frankly, I don't note much diifference in image quality (if any)
between this and my TV barlow.

There is one called a "Shorty Plus" that runs $59.99.

And yes, the subject unit is still available. As Rod Mollise stated in
his reply, the unit normally sells for $39.99. However (and not to
sound like a salesman), Orion has slashed $10.00 off the price. (See
link)

Good info, Rod. In fact, I have one of those .. but tend to use my
Celestron barlow .. which may be no better (has that nice orange paint,
though!).

I have that barlow as well as the "superior" shorty plus. It's a perfectly
good barlow. Do watch astromart.com for deals---I have several barlows and
don't see much performance difference in any of them---I do prefer the
convenience of the short barlows though some say the long ones are better.
Would like to actually have some discussion on that topic....
