The Horsehead and Flame Nebulae in Orion
The Horsehead and Flame Nebulae in Orion
Before I had the facility to image over the Internet I used to do my astronomy in the light polluted skies of England. It was only once I had a 12" reflector that I managed to see the famous dark nebula usually called the Horsehead Nebula. With a CCD and a wide field scope it was fairly easy to obtain an attractive image of the Horsehead and at the same time image the almost as well known Flame Nebula. The only significant problem to overcome was the very bright Zeta Orionis which meant taking more images - but each one with a shorter exposure. http://www.martin-nicholson.info/hor.../horsehead.htm Martin Nicholson, Daventry, England.
