Aerospace Projects Review updates
The second-to-last issue of APR is out now... articles on the Convair
NX-2 nuclear-powered bomber, a NASA-Langley Mach4 passenger transport, the NASA/Boeing "Spacejet" spaceplane concept, several high-speed rotorcraft, the Martin Model 262 VTOL fighter and the Lockheed ICE stealth fighter design. I'm in the process of a complete overhaul of all my web pages... there are a LOT of dead links as yet, but I am tryign to make the webpage a bit more user freindly as well as also providing a bit more info on the designs, rather than just teasers. The main APR webpage ( http://www.up-ship.com/apr/apr.htm ) hasn't changed much, but the page on how to order the magazines has ( http://www.up-ship.com/apr/aprorder.htm ), as it now has links to each individual issue. As yet, the individual issues aren't up and running except for the current issue, which is at: http://www.up-ship.com/apr/current.htm This page is also not yet done (most of the effort has so far been in formatting, not content), but it shows what I will eventually have for all issues. Constructive criticism welcome. |

Scott,
Have you talked to anyone like Apogee Books about assembling an APR book? Just wondering - would be a great contribution to history. Matt Bille ) OPINIONS IN ALL POSTS ARE SOLELY THOSE OF THE AUTHOR |

MattWriter wrote: Scott, Have you talked to anyone like Apogee Books about assembling an APR book? Something I'd like to do is re-work all the APR issues (make corrections and additions and whatnot) and then re-release bound versions. I think the proper size woudl be two years/Volumes at a time, leading to three bound issues. That would also mean producing one more Volume of APR, since I'm officially stopping at Volume 5. However, the Apogee format is a bit small for my tastes. Something more like the various Dennis Jenkins books, the ARA "Spaceship Handbook" or the Saturn Press "Rockets of the World" would be preferable. |

That "Rockets Of The World"- although aimed at model rocket hobbyists- is still _the_ place to go for information on sounding rockets. Pat |

Or a DVD(*). It would certainly be on my "things to get" list. (*) Preferably both. I love paper, but bits have their uses. Apart froma few gig of color scans and photos, I have little to offer for inclusion on DVD. That's one of the down sides of focussing on unbuilt projects... no videos of 'em zooming around. Vaguely relevant: when i was first contacted by a publisher about doing a "US Fighter Projects" book, it fell apart because he wanted a book full of nice color photos. |

E-versions of the same issues you printed would be a _good_ thing. As I've mentioned to you before *books* in electronic formats have their uses, and their fans... and not just us visually impaired types. People buy ebooks. People who pay money enough to keep the fledgling e-book industry growing despite most major publishers dedicated efforts to murder it in its cradle. Hmmm... Baen Books is the wonder child of e-book publishing... I wonder if "might-have-been" aerospace would interest them... At the very least you should ask. -- Chuck Stewart "Anime-style catgirls: Threat?
