astro hardware from the recent past
Where have all the scopes and mounts from 1998-2003 gone to? Remember
Meade's line of refractors on equatorial mounts? Nobody's selling them used. All those goto's faded away. Equatorial, non-goto, heavy duty mounts for less than $1000? Telrad competitors? Gone. Where do they all go? I'm in the market for a no frills 10" SCT. Doesn't exist. Any ideas? Frank |

Frank Hi: I see scopes from this era all the time...not always on Astromart, but on local observing fields and in use and for sale at star parties. As for Meade's refractors on the LXD mounts, the problem may be that not many were made/sold. There are plenty of Celestron and Meade go-to scopes from that era available used everywhere. I suspect if you buckle down you won't have much trouble fining an LX50 10-inch. Just keep your eyes open. ;-) Unk Rod |
