IYA coming very soon!

With next year, January is almost here!, being the International
year of Astronomy, you may want to take extra care for your entry in
NYC Events. IYA is referring inquiries for the New York area to NYC
Events on the NYSkies website, 'www.nyskies.org/nyc.htm'.
I understand that the end of any year is a tough period to line
up
your activities for the coming months. Your host facility may be
closed, staff on holiday, agreements expiring. This year has the
extra
complication of possible curtailment of operations due to the
enduring
economic recession.
If your astronomy center, or one you know of, has public events
in
the City area, say within 100Km of midtown Manhattan and all of Long
Island, it better have an up-to-date entry in NYC Events! That's one
principal place potential visitors, members, and public look for
their
monthly does of astronomy.
The event does NOT have to be a dedicated IYA event. Your normal
events, such as those you carried out in January 2008, are completely
qualified for NYC Events.
I do have to remind that incomplete or ambiguous information
risks
being put at the bottom of the stack of material for compiling NYC
Events. Please, when giving your event notice to NYC Events,
deliberately tick off the seven W's: Who, What, When, Where, Why,
hoW,
and WoW (OK so theere are 8 W's, go shoot me).
Pay special attention to fees, conditions, and contacts. If the
contacts are ediurnate, a reader can not get hold of you and you lose
a possible newcomer.
Send your events to '. They may be a specific
notice or a reference to your website page of events. Just be SURE to
step thru the 7, or 8, E's and fill in ant missing ones.
