Fueling the tank

How is the tank fueled? I've never understood how the fuel goes from
the the ground into the external tank. Can someone explain? Thanks.

That's a really good question. The "Beanie Cap" on the swing arm at
the top is just used for LOX venting, not filling. I can't locate any
filling ports on the outside, nor can I find any documentation
regarding this process. Maybe the fuel is pumped into the orbiter and
routed to the tank through the same pipes later used to deliver the
fuel back to the orbiter?

The LH2 propellant feed connects into the ET via the Tail Service Masts.
It doesn't need to be pumped from the storage tank: raising the
temperature slightly produces enough pressure to flow the propellant
through.
