Default Photographing moon eclipse

Hi ppl

Tonight there is a complete moon eclipse here in Europe. And I want to
photogrape it, of course . But only on a tripod, not throug my scope. So I
was wondering how long I should exposure the moon when half eclipsed, fully
eclipsed etc...
I know it's already a bit late to ask this, but can someone help me with
this?

Thanks alot!
Pieter

Pieter,

It depends on your film ISO and f/stop setting on your lens. As
for myself, I was planning to use the following:

ISO-100 film
F/5.6 setting on the lens
full moon @ 1/1000
ubral contact (U1) @ 1/500
eclipse 25% @ 1/250
eclipse 50% @ 1/125
eclipse 75% @ 1/60
totality @ 4-8 seconds
eclipse 75% @ 1/60 etc etc

If you do not care about a time series on the same frame on film
as I was planning for myself, then bracket on both sides for each of the
exposures above as a precautionary measure.

Please remember to post links to any photos you capture.

Good luck with the eclipse, the photography and especially the
weather.

Anthony.

Exposure calculator on www.covingtoninnovations.com/astromenu.html (choose
"Software").

Try a great variety of exposures.
