Default Mysterious Radio Burst Detected From Deep Space!

"It was only a split-second burst of radio waves, but what a radio telescope in Puerto Rico detected has scientists excited about pulses that seem to be originating in deep space."

"Just what is causing these bursts though remains a mystery, but possibilities include evaporating black holes, merging neutron stars or flares sent from magnetars, which McGill described as "a type of neutron star with extremely powerful magnetic fields.""

Maybe it was just Darla throwing a dead carrier to let us know she is still
out there without violating the prime directive by talking to the monkeys
again :-)

It could have been a form of ET laser targeting, so that their WMD which is intended to vaporize a dysfunctional and otherwise useless planet that's simply too toxic and too wasted, will hit its intended target.

After all, they would not want to waste another good weapon if they were worth trillions of dollars each. Of course any halfwit ET could just as easily nudge Sedna into impacting us, although at 90 AU and only 1+ km/s taking thousands of years might not have been a quick enough solution as to eradicating us before we can start depleting and contaminating other planets.

OSU's 'Big Ear' detected the 'Wow!' Signal in 1977 originating in Sagittarius near the border with Scorpio, pointing near the galactic centre. That radio observatory detected over 40,000 narrow band anomalies in that region over the ensuing years. This followed Balick & Brown's 1974 discovery of radio signals from the same region. In 2006 Rainer Schodel mapped the motion of stars in this region which indicated they were orbiting a supermassive object - a black hole at the Milky Way's centre.

On Halloween night 1938 The Mercury Theatre of the Air broadcast a radio adaptation of "War of the Worlds". Many thought the show was real. That's because the first two thirds of the broadcast were presented as a series of simulated news bulletins. This suggested to many listeners that an actual alien invasion by Martians was currently in progress. The programme ran without commercial breaks adding to the program's realism.

People are more sophisticated today. That means there would have to be reports in peer reviewed press that supported the notion of an alien invasion. Just like the radio reports in 1938 reported flashes on Mars and then explosions in New Jersey, in a consistent way to suggest an invasion before the 'main' broadcast, so too would we see reports in the literature over an extended period of time, presented in a fashion that was consistent with the idea that we are being visited.

I thought you might go with the black holes exploding after reaching their critical masses!

AA I'm bringing in my "Critical Mass Theory" into the QM realm. Its fits there very well indeed. This theory gave the BB its bang. It is now very well accepted .It is reality. TreBert

Black holes imploding are unlikely because their mass never goes away, not even after creating a galaxy.

Our solar system is billions of years younger than most others, so it stands to reason and good logic that others are out there and likely outreaching with laser and entanglement communication efforts.

A laser beam is at least a thousandfold more energy focused than the best of any conventional microwave alternatives.

Perhaps entangled photons can transfer mass at FTL.

They say that during inflation space expanded FTL. Problem is we know nothing about the structure of space or how it is driven. We know how force or pressure drive material objects which have mass. But we know nothing about what would drive space to expand, FTL or otherwise. They say the current universe is expanding at an accelerating rate. If this is caused by expansion of space, then what is the need for dark energy? Energy relates to the acceleration of matter. But if objects are being simply carried along with the expansion of space, then energy would not have to be applied to the objects themselves. And how energy would serve to expand space itself, there is no theory.
