Some Googling led me to his member page at the LUF site:

http://www.luf.org/member/melrod/msavage.htm

According to it, he is alive and well and living in Rifle, Colorado.
There is an e-mail address.

My guess is, he got bored with the LUF and moved on to other projects --
perhaps not on amicable terms. Pure speculation, of course.
