Default An achromat is an achromat is a Borg

Hello,
on
http://www.sciencecenter.net/hutech/newprod.htm
I read

"New Achromatic objective - 77Ach
Available as an objective tube assembly (6177) or as an SWII system set
(0070). This newly-designed achromat, utilizing ECO* glass, features a
spot size of less than 10 microns between 630nm and the green region.
Both chromatic and spherical aberrations are improved even further
compared to the 76Ach. The 77Ach supersedes the 76Ach as Borg's
entry-level Series 80 product. "

Anybody knows what ECO* glass is and how it is improving correction of
standard achromat (and also 101ED) objective ?

David

'ECO' glass and similar terms are marketing for glass made using less
polluting processes and materials. The term in and of it's self says
nothing about performance. Don't know any specifics about the Borg.

Or recycled one ?

Maybe during the recycling the glass was enriched by heavy metals ?

I am joking, of course.
I remember info on this board that introduction of stricter ecologic
rules in the West stopped production of some (for telescope production
desirable) kind of optical glass.

Dear Thad,
That's great!
Though it would be better if it were from
Dislexus of Borg.
thanks

Dear steve,
Fluorite glass would be a more correct term, but they do say fluoride
sometimes.

Isn't that fluoride glass, as used in Leica Apo lenses?

Same.
