I shall use the underscore for vectors.

_1_ is the unit distance vector defining the direction of the x-axis.
x' is clearly a scalar quantity of the unit distance vector pointing
along (defining) the x-axis, x' * _1_.
_y_ is a different vector, as is _z_.

c and v are clearly different scalar quantities of the same unit vector
directed along the x-axis. The unit velocity vector is the unit distance
vector traversed in unit time t.
Thus the term c+v means (c * _1_/1)+(v *_1_/1) = (c+v)* _1_/1.
c+v is the scalar sum of the unit velocity vector along the x-axis.

c-v is simply wrong, it should be v-c. This is because magnitude has no
negative value and the unit vector along the opposing x-axis is denoted
by a minus sign. Scalars are numbers, vectors are directions. Keep them
separate and you won't have a problem. The light changes direction, not
the source and not the mirror.

For any _x_ there exists a _-x_ such that _x_ + _-x_ = _0_ (axiom 4).
